Sara is eager to return to work on a part time basis as soon as possible, but we want to make sure she takes the time to let herself heal, rest and rejuvenate and not feel pressured to take on more than she should. Despite having good health insurance, she is responsible for many services that are not covered as well as those medical bills with large balances that are due and need to be paid. Because of her decreased immunity and fatigue, Sara hasn’t been able to work for the last 5 months. Since then, she has been treated with daily oral chemotherapy and weekly intravenous treatment. This January, Sara underwent extensive abdominal surgery which was successful. The last 26 years she has worked as a Physical Therapist as Eis Laasois Williamsburg Infant & Early Childhood Development Center while maintaining a small private practice.Īfter feeling ill for several months in 2015, Sara was diagnosed with advanced Ovarian Cancer. This began a 28 year connection that continues today, with Sara's ongoing years of dedicated service and contributions in this community treating hundreds of children, teaching hundreds of parents, sharing information with those therapists lucky enough to work by her side. The Williamsburg of then is not like the Williamsburg of now and the child lived in the secular Orthodox Jewish community, a cultural awakening for this Missouri native. Twenty eight years ago, Sara agreed to see a child in need who lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
